Shortened Lingen Loop - [3.3 miles]

OS201 OS137 garmin
We set off from Lingen church, but this time doing the walk in reverse. We crossed the field by the motte & bailey of Lingen Castle and soon found ourselves climbing and avoiding a large herd of cattle together with bull. Fortunately the bull was in a placid mood and ignored us as we climbed up towards Deerfold. We then turned right along the bridleway towards Grove Head - pausing to take in the view westwards.

It was then a long descent to Limebrook where we turned right again and headed through the woods towards and round Lingen Hall and back to our start point. Just 3.3 miles on a beautiful sunny day.

Leintwardine & Far Barn - [3½ miles]

OS201 OS137 garmin

9 of us parked near the Jolly Frog Restaurant and took the track which climbed up to Mocktree Farm, then we headed north towards Far Barn where we stopped for a breather and a chat (like you do) and then turned back towards our start point dropping down through corn and bean fields until we emerged onto the road below where we started.

Just over 3½ miles in a little over 2 hours. Many thanks to Mike & Pauline for leading us.

Leintwardine, Woodhead & Coleswood - [4 miles]

OS201 OS137 garmin

We parked by the river and 11 of us headed east along Rosemary Lane and then climbed Church Hill. At the summit, and pausing for breath we took in the panorama of the Teme Valley before we followed the track to Woodhead and then, after crossing the A4113 we joined the bridlepath that dropped down through Coleswood.

It was near to Kinton Farm that Norma developed a bit of a list to starboard, and so she and Pauline waited whilst Mike did the final ½ mile along the road and returned to the rescue whilst the rest of us continued across the fields and stiles and back to our start point.

Just over 4 miles, and the first time we finished with less walkers than we started!

Stow Hill & Holloway Rocks - [3.4 miles]

OS201 OS137 garmin

We left the car park by the church at Stow church and climbed the forestry track northwards towards the lake at the foot of Holloway Rocks. Then there was the steep climb up the rocks which we took slowly, pausing to take in the unfolding views to the south across the Teme valley.

Finally we reached the top and had a breather and a sit down before heading across towards the lake at the summit then following the track to Cwm Wood and Cotroger wood before starting our descent eventually entering Jutland Plantation and returning to Stow. 3.4 miles of good walking and great views.
