Leintwardine & Buckton - [3.2 miles]

OS201 OS137 garmin

Mike Oliver kindly lead us on a 3 mile walk in the mist and drizzle across the fields alongside the Clun. We parked by the river and crossed the bridge then over a stile by the Clun.

We stopped after a short while whilst Mike explained the planting of the Millennium Oaks. An avenue of over 60 trees have been planted (I counted them on Google Earth!) at the instigation of Edward Harley and they stretch south westerly from Leintwardine across 2 fields before merging with the hedgerow all the way to Brampton Bryan.

We continued to Buckton where our interest was taken in the beginnings of the restoration of the water wheel at the old mill before we turned back towards Leintwardine.

In spite of the weather a most enjoyable walk of 3.2 miles for the 8 of us who turned up and our thanks to Mike and Pauline for leading us round.
