Walk 20 [7.9 miles] - Knighton & Stowe

OS201 OS137 garmin

Our 20th and final walk of 2007 took place on a Monday 31st December. Maybe it was the weather or post-Christmas blues or just too much pudding - but we managed to muster 4 brave souls for the walk.

We drove to Knighton and parked in the Offa’s Dyke car par. Then we left to walk briefly alongside the Teme before crossing the railway and leaving Knighton via Kinsey Wood. After crossing a few fields we fetched up at Stowe Church where we started the long ascent, pausing briefly for elevensies at the large pond below Holloway Rocks. Then up to tackle Holloway Rocks. We had a good view of Knighton through the light mist.
Eventually we reached the top and then turned towards the west and the long steady downhill trek to Five Turnings before we made another brief ascent and then joined Offas Dyke path overlooking Knucklas viaduct where we paused for lunch. A light drizzle set in after lunch which made Janet and Graham step out leaving Ian and Diana a poor second. A good walk for all that and enjoyed by the group.
