Walk 67 [9.16 miles] - Leintwardine, Brandhill & Shelderton

OS201 OS137 garmin

7 of us set off from Leintwardine in a thick mist but with the promise of sun once we climbed higher.

We headed east towards Whitton then north turning to parallel the road and climbing all the while eventually emerging at Billings Wood where we crossed the A4113

Looking south west towards Mortimer Forest

and turned left to Mocktree Farm where we emerged into bright sunlight and were able to take in the clear views all around with the river valleys covered in mist.

We continued to Brandhill Farm where we turned

The rock cliff at Brandhill Farm

left and started our return heading south to Shelderton but not before we stopped to inspect the impressive rock face as Brandhill Farm.
Once through Shelderton we crossed a few field and then stopped for lunch on a convenient bank overlooking the Clun valley.

After resuming we continued South to Stormer Hall then returned to Leintwardine but not before we crossed a field advising us to beware of the bull! Fortunately he appeared to be away for his Christmas holidays. Later in the village, Mike spotted an Austin 7, and got into conversation with the owner who was about to bravely embark on a journey to Bristol.

Maybe the sign should have said Beware of the Colin?

9.16 miles of most enjoyable walking and just the job to settle the Christmas fare, and then is was back to Mike & Beryl's for tea an Christmas cake! Many thanks to Mike for leading us.
